Card Down, Reverse Uno Played

Lately, writing this post has felt a lot like sitting down to an UNO game—specifically Brazilian UNO—especially when the Reverse card comes out. What began as an invitation, something I once laid down, has quietly become a change in plans that three months ago felt impossible.

I can picture it clearly: sitting across the table from God—Papa, in my mind—watching Him smile as He lays down the card that changes the whole game. One moment you’re planning your own steps, and the next—like in the card game—someone sneezes and you’re suddenly holding half the deck. The rules shift, and you realize you’re being asked to play differently. Unexpected, yes. Stretching, definitely. A little wild. And, somehow, still an adventure.

What started as an invitation I quietly tucked away resurfaced in the most persistent way possible. After ten months of searching for a new job and praying, “Papa, what is the next step?” Two separate, faithful friends—at different times—asked me the same question out of nowhere:
“So… what about Uganda and Imprint Hope?”

As if that weren’t enough, on the very day a friend from Imprint was expected to visit the area, I received a phone call from my mother. She shared that it had been on her heart to ask whether I would consider traveling—and on her list of nations was Uganda.

At some point, repetition stops feeling accidental.

So here I am—packing bags, both literal and internal. Letting go of the illusion that preparation means control. Learning that obedience often shows up before clarity, and that saying yes doesn’t always come with a full explanation.

The goal is to support Imprint Hope as they support families of children with disabilities. Imprint offers counseling, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and education to families who would not otherwise have access to such resources. I’ll serve in whatever capacity is needed, whether through my business background or my experience working as a childcare provider.

Apparently, God has a sense of humor.
And apparently, this is how this chapter begins.

“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”
